Example of Duties:
Project Officer for the Municipality of Anchorage (MOA) Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) and liaison to Emergency System for the Advanced Registration of Volunteer Health Professionals (ESAR-VHP) Alaska Responds Program/Project.
Assist the Emergency Preparedness Manager in all plans, procedures and courses of action in regards to medical service and public health as it relates to Emergency and Disaster Response. Offer medical expertise related to the development an operational Alternate Care Site (ACS) to provide the MOA with a Medical Surge capability and ability to decompress local hospitals during an area wide medical emergency or mass casualty producing event; act as a liaision in the development of critical medical and non-medical partnerships with local hospitals and medical care providers regarding emergency preparedness; provide medical guidance to MOA DHHS Emergency Preparedness Team to help develop the capacity to handle all-hazard events; provide input to plans for mitigation and rapid response to natural and man-made epidemiological threats to the local community; work closely with local, state, tribal, and federal agencies to help coordinate and develop formalized emergency preparedness planning and surveillance.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Special Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and a State of Alaska Registered Nurse License or if applicant is from out of state a temporary Alaska Nursing License must be obtained by the time of hire. Must possess a valid State of Driver's License. Must possess a current CPR certification.
Requires an Alaska Nursing License. If the applicant is from Alaska, an Alaska Nursing License is required prior to employment. If the applicant is from out of state, a temporary Alaska Nursing License must be obtained by the time of hire, with the permanent license obtained within 6 months of hire.
If selected for hire, appointment in this position will be conditional based upon satisfactory completion of a criminal background investigation (AS 12.62.160). Accordingly it will be necessary for the selected applicant to provide certain identification information and be fingerprinted. Fingerprint cards must be dated within 30 days from date requested. The processing fee of $51.50 plus the cost of being fingerprinted (variable) is the responsibility of the selected applicant and must be accomplished before beginning work.
If selected for hire, appointment in this position will be conditional based upon the submission of a current copy of the applicant’s Alaska Driver’s License and a current (dated within 30 days from date requested) copy of his/her Department of Motor Vehicle driving record, including a driving record from previous states if the Alaskan driver’s license was first issued within one year prior to application, documenting an acceptable driving history. The processing fee(s) are the responsibility of the selected applicant.
All required certifications and licenses must remain current for the duration of employment
