The EMS Coordinator believes that life-long learning and continuing nursing education is essential for the provision of current, safe, and quality nursing care. Provides healthcare educational activities which include issues related to health promotion, prevention, maintenance, restoration and education for the EMS system. These educational activities may be developed and presented to any of the following, based upon areas of expertise: the community, patients/families, Associates, and/or the medical staff. The EMS/Clinical Education Coordinator utilizes various methodologies and the nursing process in identifying, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing education activities. The EMS Coordinator functions as a facilitator, change agent, consultant, researcher, and leader. The overall goal for the EMS Coordinator is to improve the knowledge and skills of nurses and other allied health practitioners which enable them to provide the highest quality of patient care and the highest environment for patient safety.

Under the supervision of the EMS Medical Director and the ED Manager, coordinates activity of the EMS System and the ED. Assures clinical competence of ambulance and ED staff that is part of Resource Hospital jurisdiction. Coordinates quality monitoring of training.

Qualifications

Education:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Education preferred

Registered Nurse or Paramedic Licensed in the State of Illinois

Experience:
Current demonstrated knowledge and skill with 3-5 years experience in areas of responsibility

Experience in curriculum development and principles of teaching preferred

Must be emotionally mature and able to function under stress

Licenses/Certificates:
Licensed and currently registered as an RN in the State of Illinois or Paramedic Certification Required

EMS Instructor Certified or willingness to obtain within one year of hire

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required
