Job Duties: This position is responsible for performance of thorough field inspections, completion of accurate field inspection reports, cultivating and maintaining good public relations, following appropriate sampling and safety procedures, adhering to approved
technical/administrative policies and procedures. This position has the authority to inspect, review and evaluate physical and water quality conditions of various mines, industries and may require field work. Authorized to perform annual and special inspections as required by the program or immediate supervisor. Authorized to
investigate complaints, recommend corrections of deficiencies uncovered during inspections/investigations and to recommend enforcement actions for those deficiencies not corrected in a timely manner, and recommend solutions to emergency situations.
This position requires knowledge of water quality laws and regulations. Must understand concepts of engineering and geology as they pertain to water quality. Must be familiar with geological, geochemical processes and its association to environmental and public
health. Must be familiar with general laboratory procedures, commonly used analytical techniques, report and letter writing and public relations techniques. Must have the ability to collect, process, and evaluate data of a scientific or engineering nature. Candidate should have good overall knowledge relating to fate and transport of contaminants in the environment. Must be skilled at working with the public and regulated communities. Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment.
