This position will be responsible for inspecting and auditing permitted fleet inspection facilities and contractor operated state emissions inspection stations. Additional responsibilities include: observation and evaluation of licensed inspectors in the performance of inspections, verifying calibration of inspection instrumentation, performing follow-up inspection of previously inspected vehicles for compliance with established law and rule, performing overt and covert compliance audits, and reviewing submitted fleet inspection documentation for accuracy and adherence to established procedure and rules.

The candidate should be highly motivated and possess excellent technical and interpersonal skills; strong technical knowledge of automotive engine and emissions controls systems; knowledge of state and federal environmental statutes and regulations relating to vehicle emissions and emissions testing; knowledge of emissions monitoring techniques and equipment, and knowledge of standard office software

RETIREMENT:
This position participates in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS)*. * ASRS enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment, if not already an ASRS member at the time off hire.
