Job Description:
The incumbent will conduct inspections of solid waste facilities. Conduct sampling as necessary. Provide public outreach and technical assistance to regulated community and answer inquiries from general public. Write compliance documents and negotiate terms and requirements of compliance documents. Monitor reporting by solid waste facilities and process registrations as needed. Complete special projects and other duties as assigned. Conduct complaint investigations and documents results in an inspection report.
Routinely update database by providing all information required by
each database field. Provide guidance and assistance to new staff as to the proper procedures for conducting inspections, taking and investigating complaints, drafting of compliance and enforcement documents, and other job functions as necessary. Draft and finalize procedures and policies for use by the Solid Waste Inspections and Compliance Unit. Data entry for incoming applications, notifications, reports, and/or manifests for the Solid Waste Inspections and Compliance Unit.

This position requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.)

This position participates in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS)*.

  • ASRS enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment, if not already an ASRS member at the time of hire.
