EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Under direction, conducts moderately difficult and complex studies and investigations pertaining to ecological and environmental aspects of proposed programs and projects in order to eliminate or minimize pollution of air, land, and water from any source; collects and analyzes information and data, and prepares reports and recommendations on a wide variety of matters concerning the environment; prepares Environmental Impact Reports pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act; analyzes proposed legislation and regulations to determine their effect on the Port and/or City; may represent the Port and/or City before hearings on environmental matters with other public agencies and private interests; and performs other related duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS TO FILE:
Proof of graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Marine Biology or Biological Science, Geography or Physical Science, Geology or Hydrogeology, Chemistry or closely related field (proof required)*.
Three years (full-time equivalent) paid, environmental analysis experience, including the application of the California Environmental Quality Act.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Familiarity with personal computers and the use of computer software.
Some positions may require overtime, weekend and/or holiday hours.
A valid motor vehicle operator’s license and a current DMV driving record must be submitted to the hiring department at time of selection interview.

SELECTION PROCEDURE: This examination will be conducted using the continuous, non-competitive procedure. All applicants meeting the requirements will be placed on the eligible list, with those receiving Veteran’s credit first, and then in the order in which applications were filed.
