Operates automotive public works equipment. Performs minor maintenance of assigned equipment.

Drives and operates dump trucks, hauling dirt and/or asphalt;
Operates loader to load trucks;
Operates moderately light equipment such as bush hog, side cutter, ditcher;
Maintains and repairs roadways and installs culverts, patching roads and highways;
Cuts grass, limbs and trees along roadside;
Assists in building and repairing bridges;
Performs minor maintenance to trucks and related equipment;
Performs related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS: Drive and operate dump trucks, loader, bush hog, side cutter, ditching machine and less complex equipment; moderate lifting up to 100 pounds; manual dexterity, good vision and hearing, bending, stooping, walking, standing, reaching and climbing.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Works outdoors in varying adverse weather; works in dust, grease, oil, chemicals, fumes and odors; works in moving vehicles.

KNOWLEDGE OF: Operation and minor maintenance of dump trucks and related public works equipment; safety regulations related to assigned equipment; traffic regulations.

ABILITY TO: Drive and operate moderately heavy equipment; work in heat, cold and all types of adverse weather; work in dust, fumes and odors; perform minor maintenance on assigned equipment i.e., change oil and filters, check lights, tires and fuel equipment.

SKILLS: Operation of dump trucks and other less complex public works equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

To be considered for this position you MUST submit documentation (ie diplomas or transcripts reflecting graduation) of the education requirements listed below. Failure to do so will result in your application being rejected.

Graduation from high school or GED. Six months experience in the operation and routine maintenance of moderately heavy equipment and trucks with a GVW of 26,000 pounds or greater.

LICENSE: Applicant must have a valid State of Florida Commercial driver's license (Class B with air brake endorsement or higher) and maintain said license while employed in this position.
