DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Reporting Location: 7800 Airport Blvd. (subject to change)
Workdays & Hours: Shift work, including rotation, holidays and weekends (subject to change)
Performs tasks involving operating motorized equipment, physical labor, using and operating hand and power tools, pavement repair tools, and ground maintenance tools of varied types. Performs skilled work involved in the operation of the following equipment including not limited to triple flail tractor mowers, brush hogs, general utility tractors, ride along mowers, forklifts, pavement rollers, heavy duty trucks, air compressors, pavement demolition equipments, cement mixers, skid-steer loaders, various tractor implements (spreader, tillers, curb dresser, box blade, etc,) Operations are primarily involved in the activities associated with airport runway and grounds keeping maintenance. Cleans and services equipment, maintains a clean and safe work area and transports materials and equipment to work sites. Able to communicate effectively with air traffic controllers and operations personnel. Able to read, speak and write English.
Performing these duties will involve: driving city vehicles, walking, standing and sitting for extended periods; expending physical energy for long periods; recognizing sound, tone and pitch; observing and differentiating details; understanding spoken and written information; solving arithmetic and numerical problems, speaking and writing effectively; applying specialized information; adjusting to interruptions and changes; working in hot, cold and noisy work places; being exposed to inclement weather conditions; and reacting with dexterity and coordination.; working with a minimum of supervision; dealing with people in tense situations and working as a member of the team. Must be willing and available to work all shifts, including rotation, weekends and holidays. Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearances.
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to read, write, add, subtract and follow oral and/or basic written instructions as might normally be acquired through nine (9) to eleven (11) years of formal schooling.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
One (1) year of experience in the operation of plant or automotive equipment and attachments.
MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Valid Class A or B Texas Commercial driver's license and compliance with city's policy on driving (AP 2-2).
Ability to supervise and direct the work of others. Ability to understand and implement oral and written instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad group of personnel.
SELECTION/SKILLS TEST REQUIRED

Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.
