The Legal & Compliance Group plays a critical role in supporting the Error Resolution Council (“ERC”), a cross-functional group of senior firm leaders, which has responsibility for the development and implementation of the firm’s policies regarding the resolution of errors. In particular, the Legal & Compliance Group manages the error resolution process, including the investigation of the facts and circumstances surrounding potential error situations and the development of proposed resolutions.
We are looking for someone to lead the Legal & Compliance Group’s support of the ERC and to serve as the Secretary of the ERC. This position will report to the US Chief Compliance Officer, but will also work closely with the Chair and Vice Chair of the ERC and with ERC members.
The ERC Support Manager will lead the effort within Legal & Compliance to provide support to the ERC members in connection with the investigation and resolution of potential error situations. He or she will serve as Secretary to the ERC and will work with the Chair and Vice Chair to develop the agenda for the ERC, focusing on the firm’s policies and procedures regarding the analysis and resolution of situations involving errors in client accounts. The ERC Support Manager will have primary responsibility for the following:
•Establishing and enhancing policies and procedures related to the investigation of potential error situations, managing day to day ERC workflow, coordinating with ERC members to resolve errors, managing the use of the firms’ Trade Error Account, coordinating the client reimbursement process, and supporting GRG with client communications regarding error situations
•Collaborating with business leaders and firmwide committees (e.g. the Risk Management Committee) on initiatives to reduce the incidence of errors
•Proactively identifying and sharing information regarding error trends and causes with relevant business leaders and others across the firm
•Identifying, prioritizing and budgeting for ERC related systems initiatives
• Training of new ERC members and other relevant personnel regarding ERC policies and processes
•Minimum of ten years of experience, preferably at WMC
•Extensive knowledge of WMC’s investment operations, processes, technology, products, and clients
•Sound business judgment and discretion
•Strong organizational, analytical and process management skills
•Ability to collaborate effectively with others and to develop relationships across geographies and across the organization
•Excellent communication skills
