The ETL Developer Database Programmer Analyst III is a critical member of the Business Intelligence team formed by a partnership between Institutional Planning & Analysis and Information Technology. This position develops and supports the UC MercedÂ’s Business Intelligence solution including integrated decision-support applications (data marts, dimensional models, cubes, dashboards, scoreboards). As the Business Intelligence team is in early stages of delivering information to campus constituents, this position provides a unique opportunity to participate in a solution to support this diverse campus committed to serve the state, nation and world through research, education and public service.

The ETL Developer Database Programmer Analyst III designs and develops dimensional date models and functions as a key technical resource for any future evolving Data Warehouse development, maintenance and ETL support. The ETL Developer Database Programmer Analyst III works effectively and collaboratively with the Business Intelligence project team performing technically-oriented analysis, design and development associated with the initial creation and subsequent expansion of campus Business Intelligence initiatives. This position analyzes source systems, participates in analysis and design sessions, identifies business rules, and writes ETL interfaces from source systems to the Business Intelligence environment using Oracle OWB, Oracle ODI and PL-SQL programming. The ETL Developer Database Programmer Analyst III is an experienced professional who knows how to apply theory and put it into practice with in-depth understanding of data warehousing; independently performs the full range of responsibilities; possesses broad job knowledge; analyzes problems/issues of diverse scope and identifies options and determines solutions.

The ETL Developer Database Programmer will create and test ETL to move data to the Business Intelligence environment using Oracle ODI/OWB and PL-SQL; Develop and document specifications to ensure data quality and integrity during transformation processes; Create, coordinate, and implement test plans; verify and reconcile data for accuracy and consistency; Provide on-going analytics and data support for continuous augmentation of the integrated reporting environment through a standard development life cycle; Work with IT to ensure stability, availability, acceptable performance, with adequate backup and disaster recovery practices in place; Ensure the technical infrastructure will support reports, analytics and performance requirements; Communicate and collaborate with the Business Intelligence project team to define business requirements for developing new data marts as well as for enhancements to existing data marts; Participate in user interviews for requirements gathering; Analyze complex source systems; formulate logic to support new data marts, develop and document logical data models, build data dictionaries, document technical requirements and prepare programming specifications and other technical documents based on business requirements.

Qualifications:

M.S. in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field PLUS 2 yearsÂ’ experience in job offered.
