Performs environmental services and sanitation tasks on a daily and as needed basis. Welcomes patients and visitors as they enter the facility and assists them in reaching their destination. Assumes responsibility for providing a clean, safe, pleasant environment for patients, residents, and staff while insuring departmental customer service and cleaning standards are maintained. Must be flexible, self-motivated, and able to function efficiently without constant direct supervision, with the ability to take direction from multiple sources. Provides food/beverage to patients and visitors at nursing staff's discretion. Provides comfort measures to patients and visitors (pillows, blankets, tissues, etc.) Communicates patient/visitor concerns to nursing staff. Actively participates in quality assurance and departmental QI activities. Uses supplies and equipment in a safe manner. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (to be completed with one year of hire).
Ninth grade math and reading literacy required. Healthcare housekeeping experience preferred. Must be able to perform housekeeping cleaning and sanitation procedures with minimal supervision. Ability to safely work with cleaning chemicals and operate environmental services equipment.
SPECIAL PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL DEMANDS:
Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 lbs. Must be able to bend, stoop, push and pull. Stands and walks for most of the working day.
