General Summary:

Responsible for assisting in client supervision and implementation of instructional and treatment programming based on ABA principles. Reports to Program Coordinator.

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred (Human Services field, Education, Special Education, or behavior analysis)
  • Knowledge of behavioral principles and instructional strategies based on behavior analysis
  • Knowledge of typical child development (developmental milestones and social/emotional development)
  • Skill in problem solving instructional and treatment programs
    • Experience working in a school, clinic and/home setting with individuals with special needs
    • Education based or vocational work experience (Young Child through Adult)
    • Skilled in social skill development
    • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
    • Able to exercise independent judgment and support program philosophy
    • Able to take direction from supervisors
    • Able to work cooperatively within a team
    • Computer literacy
    • Knowledge and experiences with assistive technology
    • Teaching certificate preferred
    • Sign language preferred
    • Fluency in a second language preferred
    • Maintain current certification on CPR and First Aid
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Direct Instructional and Treatment Programs:
  • Assess students’ knowledge and skills to determine their strengths and needs
  • Collaborate with lead instructors and Program Coordinator to adapt lessons to meet the needs of students
  • Build rapport with each student, creating and maintaining motivation
  • Implement skill acquisition and behavior reduction programming with students
  • Participate in training as assigned
  • Actively participate in improving the quality of the program and Center
  • Make materials for instructional and treatment programs
  • Record and graph data for behavior reduction and skill acquisition programming
  • Assist in problem solving for programming in which change is not in the desired direction
  • Attend and participate in team meetings
  • Maintain designated student program books
  • Hold confidential all knowledge of students and their families
  • Physically able to perform duties of the position, and other duties as assigned
  • Effectively implement crisis and physical intervention procedures
  • Assist and/or implement daily hygiene and toileting programs for students if appropriate
  • Participate in developing and implementing
  • transition plans that outline services to help students as they move to a new school/program
  • Ensure that students are receiving the services outlined in their programs
  • Update programs throughout the school year to reflect student’ progress and goals
  • Meet with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators to discuss student’s progress, methodology and physical management as needed
  • Willing to participate in research efforts
  • Engage in activities further knowledge of autism and applied behavior analysis
  • Other professional development and training as assigned
  • Other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned

Physical Requirements:
  • Able to sit and stand frequently and shift positions quickly
  • Able to do the following for extended periods of time:
    • Sit /kneel on floor
    • Sit in a chair (small child chair)
    • Stand
    • Walk
    • Able to do frequent bending to accommodate and assist children
    • Able to physically manage children, including providing physical guidance, physical prompts from behind, bending and lifting (40lbs).
    • Able to move quickly and keep up with running children
    • Must be able to pass QBS Safety Care training and safely apply all physical management procedures when necessary with individual children
