Determines eligibility in various public assistance programs of varying complexities where duties include interviewing clients; processing program applications; compiling financial data; and verifying information.
High school diploma/GED and 1 year experience as an economic services caseworker. Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
Some positions may require a valid NC Driver’s License, good driving record, and own transportation.
Hours: 8AM-5PM weekdays; may include rotating 9AM-6PM coverage on Wednesdays; must be available for emergency situations.
Applicants who do not meet the minimum experience requirement of 1 year as an economic services caseworker may be considered at a trainee rate of $15.27 per hour, and, if hired, will be paid the trainee rate until the 1 year experience requirement is met.
Applications will be placed in an active file for a period of 90 days and will be considered as temporary positions become available during that time. A new application must be submitted every 90 days to remain in the active file. Applicants hired into these temporary positions may be considered for regularly budgeted economic services caseworker positions as vacancies occur.
Positions are expected to last according to needs of the department and as long as funding is available.
