Assists editors and production staff in various aspects of the publications process. Edits copy, checking and entering review comments and copyedits, proofreading and checking proofreader marks. Prepares manuscripts for production, including creating content for digital delivery. Creates art, resource, and permissions logs, as well as securing permissions. Abstracts newsletter for online versions. Performs quality control for online resources. Attends editorial meetings and various on-site health care conferences. Assists with on-site sales of publications products at on-site conferences.
Requirements
Undergraduate, entering junior or senior year majoring in English, Rhetoric, Journalism, Publishing, or Communications. Must be maintaining at least a B average in their major. The candidate should have an interest in book/newsletter/web publishing, and/or health care publishing (though this is not required, nor is a background in health care). The internship runs 20 hours per week for a maximum of 10 weeks.
