Title: Education Coordinator, Information Technology, SIU Carbondale.
Qualifications: This position requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in business, education or related field. Minimum of five years' experience developing educational materials. Must have background in instructional design for adult learners. Project Management experience is required. Must be highly skilled and knowledgeable in the use of authoring tools. Must have good writing skills. A working knowledge of HR Systems, Financial Systems, and/or student Relationship Management is desired, but not required. Demonstrable organizational change management and orientation on schedule and goal achievement is preferred.
Duties: The Education Coordinator will provide leadership for the development and implementation of various training activities associated with projects being managed across campus. He or she will coordinate with the various technical, functional and media resources on campus to enable organizational change through various training techniques.
This person will be responsible for leading the applications training team. He or she will have operational responsibility for design, development, modification, deployment and maintenance of customized educational materials, written and electronic, for the University's key application systems. This person will work in an environment that is not focused on one business discipline, per se, but will be cross-functional. Conduct content analysis and learner characteristic assessment in order to apply and modify various instructional design models and instructional system components. Apply commonly accepted e-learning training strategies and adult learning theories.

Ensure SIU Board policies and State/Federal laws are accurately incorporated in training/documentation materials, and if conflicts exist, act to resolve issues among appropriate departments, including, but not limited to accessibility issues for user with disabilities.
Implement components of instructional design and curriculum development and apply elements from generally accepted learning evaluation models from statistical assessment of performance and evaluation of training effectiveness.
Collaborate with department heads and subject matter experts to determine project scope, requirements and other production-related issues.
Test and analyze functionality of systems prior to development of training materials.
Manage project efforts of training and organizational transition from development through implementation. Create and review writing standards and specifications.
Maintain the campus e-learning web-sites and electronic libraries housing all documents related to training for which this office is responsible.
Evaluate new technologies, media and techniques for applicability to training delivery, including, but not limited to, classroom, online, and one-on-one training delivery. Negotiate with various providers for purchase of new technologies in content development, content management and web-authoring tools.
