This position provides specialized training to individuals in the skill areas of meal preparation, dining and kitchen skills which includes the texturizing of food, meal planning and grocery shopping, cleaning and maintaining appliances/kitchen equipment. This position assists the Home Teacher with assessing strengths, needs, and preferences of individuals to facilitate development of training objectives and activities. This position also ensures that training programs are conducted properly and that data is accurately and consistently documented. This position provides input and recommendations to address ongoing habilitation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:

Ability to follow verbal and written instruction; basic knowledge of food preparation and handling; ability to complete basic math computations; ability to work with a variety of people; knowledge of basic training techniques and client needs; ability to observe behavior and communicate observations and recommendations effectively in oral and written form.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of experience at the Health Care Technician I level that requires some instruction, observation, and documentation, or as an aide in a classroom setting; or instructional experience in a community human services program; or associate degree in mental health or child development program which includes a six-month practicum/internship in a similar setting (one year of the above experience may be substituted for the practicum) - applicants for vocational rehabilitation must be familiar with the area of work through hobbies or paid work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
