The Education Specialist works independentlyunder limited supervision, designs, develops, implements, and evaluates education programs based on adult learning principles, ANA Professional Development Scopes and Standards of Practice, Nurse Practice Act, and State & Federal Education Standards. In addition, provides corporation support, new employee orientation, employee health, and employee infection control, and mentoring of corporation staff. As a part of the team, supports system-wide education programs in addition to specialty based initiatives. Position requires flexibility of schedule, creativity, teamwork, and excellent communication skills. Works in partnership/collaboration with other staff members and pro-actively identifies and provides for the customer needs using FutureCare customer service and corporate compliance standards.
Duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following tasks and/or assignments:
Educator Role: Designs, develops, and implements educational programs based upon the learning needs of the staff, unit and the organization’s priorities.
Facilitator Role: Assist
learners in identifying both their learning needs and the effective learning activities required to meet those needs.
Clinical Role: Assists in coordinating and guiding clinical activities of nursing staff within a practice area.
Leader Role: Provides and supports organizational and administrative structure to achieve corporation and organizational goals.
Change Agent: Facilitates and serves as a change agent for the initiation of, adoption of, and adaptation to change (policy, procedures, or regulatory).

Current Maryland RN Licensure**
Progressive experience in an acute or long term care setting.
B.S. Degree in nursing or related field preferred.
Completion of Train the Trainer course or two years’ teaching experience.
Three years’ experience in clinical nursing
Must have a current CPR HealthCare Provider or CPR for Professional Rescuer certification.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support CPR Instructor experience preferred
Basic Computer Skills (Microsoft office suite) preferred
May have specialty certification, preferred.
