The University of New Mexico has established branch colleges to serve the citizens of New Mexico and to provide the highest quality of education for students pursuing post secondary education at different locations throughout the state. TRiO/Student Support Services at the University of New Mexico-Gallup Campus, is a dynamic and diverse program seeking a highly motivated Education Specialist to coordinate services in the TRiO Learning Center. The success of the student population served requires the Education Specialist to be proficient in planning and implementing student success initiatives designed to accomplish goals and objectives set forth by the funding agency. The position develops and assesses educational needs, creates academic plans, partners with internal and external resources, collects and analyzes program data, evaluates effectiveness of tutoring services, and coordinates various academic activities and functions based on student needs. Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Bachelor's degree in Education or related discipline. One year experience coordinating or providing tutoring services to at-risk student populations. One year experience working with an SSS or similar project. At least one year experience working in higher education, preferably at a community college. Familiarity with Banner. Demonstrated familiarity with TRiO program regulations and reporting. Successful experience working in an educational setting with diverse populations. Demonstrated experience with community partnerships and working with administrators, faculty, student, and staff. Experience creating/implementing lesson plans.
