The COM Educator will be a full-time academic position, with primary curriculum and teaching responsibilities within the College of Medicine. The position requires understanding and oversight of curriculum content, evaluation, and performance outcomes. These courses are primarily basic science and foundational in nature the first two years and are primarily clinical in nature during the third and fourth years. The COM Educators will report to the Associate Dean of Curriculum and Academic Services.

Essential Duties
Administrative:
-Provide oversight for implementation of curriculum management and assessment committee recommendations for courses
-Collaborate with Course Directors with respect to curriculum
-Provide oversight for annual modification and integration within the curriculum
-Communicate with other Course Directors and/or Associate Dean of Curriculum and Academic Services regarding identified areas of concern in curricular content.
-Facilitate faculty/student development
-Participate in all appropriate curricular, assessment and policy meetings
-Assist course directors to maintain LCME program standards with respect to foundation science curricular areas
Curricular:
-Assist course directors in developing and implementing curriculum using varied learning strategies and educational pedagogy
-Assure implementation of curriculum is horizontally and vertically integrated
-Assist course directors to maintain curricular mapping of curriculum
-Participate in annual curricular retreats
-Assist course directors and faculty in linking content to established learning objectives
-Assist course directors in identifying deficiencies in curricular content and modify content accordingly
-Participate in curricular teaching
Assessment:
-Review overall student performance and curricular content effectiveness annually using standard measures
-Participate in developing evaluation strategies specific for the curriculum
-Help to establish outcome metrics specific to the curriculum
-Assist course directors in linking individual learning objectives to course objectives and to performance outcomes
-Help to identify performance predictors
-Monitor NEOMED student performance against national norms
-Recommend curricular modification as necessary to assure high performance standards
Research:
-Maintain active interest in publishing and presenting academic research locally and nationally
Continuing Education:
-Continue to broaden education in medical education and teaching

Minimum Qualifications
-Must possess an MD, Phd, EdD or other terminal degree
-3 years experience in undergraduate, graduate or medical student teaching
-Evidence of teaching skills expertise i.e. feedback/evaluations

Preferred Qualifications
-Experience and interest in interprofessional education
