Kitchell, a well-established construction firm, most recently voted “Top10 best workplaces” and ranked amongst the “Top 50 firms” in ENR, is seeking an Electrical Designer to be responsible for providing drafting and modeling of power, lighting and electronic systems for various commercial, institutional and governmental projects. This position is deadline driven, requiring excellent organizational and collaborative skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead electrical design activities for education, public and/or healthcare facilities.
Design and draft schematic; design development and construction drawings for low voltage, lighting, power and electronic systems.
Prepare detailed models in MEP Revit as well as various other design modeling and coordination software (Navisworks) formats for engineering and construction projects.
Support and meet electrical design expectations of clients.
Maintain company design standards.
Executes additional duties and responsibilities as needed.
Education and Experience
Minimum eight (8) years’ experience in the engineering design and construction industry. At least five (5) years designing electrical systems for education, public and/or healthcare facilities.
Associate’s degree in electrical design; Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering preferred.
Minimum four (4) years of experience drafting and modeling in AutoCAD and Revit MEP 2010.
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of applicable codes and standards required, including Title 24.
Proficient with BIM applications (Revit and Navisworks); experience with ETAP and Visual a plus.
Knowledge of the architecture and engineering construction industry.
Effective computer skills, including proficient use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Photoshop software required.
Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced team environment.
Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to foster and maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
