The spacecraft Electrical (power) engineer position supports SNC’s Space Systems Group in the Spacecraft area, specifically targeted to support the DARPA F6 spacecraft program and ongoing Orbcomm Generation 2 spacecraft production. The specific responsibilities include spacecraft power subsystem sizing and analysis of battery and solar array to support mission requirements, wire harness detailed design including connectors and backshells if required, developing and validating requirements including technical specifications to support component procurement and oversight of suppliers, performing/documenting design trades with subsystem engineers, generating presentation materials and presenting at Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs) and Design Reviews, supporting verification during I&T phase, and supporting launch and mission operations as power subsystem representative. Support to spacecraft proposal activities and related IRAD programs are also envisioned.

Technical position typically responsible for design/development activities, typically supervised by a more senior technical person assigned to same or cross-functional discipline (aeronautical, electrical, mechanical, RF, software, or systems engineering). Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Initiate problem solving for new product designs and as well as existing products
Understand, plan, and execute technical activities in accordance with SNC policies, procedures, and work instructions and specific Customer requirements
Originate specifications, control documents, verification and validation plans, procedures, reports, and other documentation in support of design and development activities
Prepare material for, and conduct, periodic design reviews
Execute engineering design and development activities consistent with Customer quality, cost and schedule requirements
Participate in design integration with customer requirements and industry standards
Maintains logs and manuals to document testing and operation of equipment
Assemble, test, and maintain circuitry or electronic components according to engineering instructions, technical manuals and knowledge of electronics
Responsible for the design and development of units from concept through qualification
Punctuality to work each day and prepared to work scheduled work hours
Perform other duties as required by more senior engineer(s), Project Engineer or Program Manager

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in an Engineering/technical field with 0-2 yrs experience.

SKILLS REQUIRED:
Knowledge of interface and design documentation such as Functional block diagrams
Prior experience with spacecraft design is a plus
Prior experience with E3 Series Software is a plus
