Brown and Caldwell, a nationally recognized environmental engineering and consulting firm, has an exciting opportunity in our Raleigh office for a Supervising Engineer and Group Leader with Instrumentationand Controls or Power experience to work as a team member in our Dedicated Design Group.
T he successful candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative multi-discipline environment to develop complete designs for new facilities, expansions, upgrades and retrofits of water and wastewater facilities. This person will be responsible for technical design, design team leadership, and mentoring of technical junior staff.
Technical responsibilities will include both electrical engineering and design tasks for facilities serving the water and wastewater industries. The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of applicable building codes including the NFPA and NEC standards. Electrical design responsibilities will include low and medium voltage plant power distribution system design, motor control centers, drives, motors, and related equipment for plant power and control systems. Projects include initial concept development, field investigations, layout and selection of equipment, producing basis of design reports, developing contract drawings and specifications, preparing bid packages, and providing construction oversight.
Management responsibilities will include supervising and mentoring technical staff, training and helping staff to work effectively on projects while assisting them in their professional and personal growth.
In addition to the skills and experience listed above, the ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum of 15 years experience.
- BS degree in a related engineering discipline preferred
- P.E. registration required.
- Excellent communications and technical writing skills.
- Skilled in the use of MS Office applications.
- Demonstrated experience leading electrical design teams.
