We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to lead projects within our Electrical Engineering team, and will accept applications at either the Associate or Engineer level. This individual will work closely with our production facilities, Marketing Management, Engineering, Machinery Manufacturing, and vendors. They will lead projects and project teams that are focused on the design and development of speed and motion control systems, process improvements, and resolving production issues. There are opportunities for growth in both technical and management arenas.

The Associate Engineer position is the first level of Engineer in the Engineering Department. This level is for the newly degreed engineer who is hired with very little work experience. The focus of this position is to apply knowledge, skills, and abilities while learning and receiving information about the company, procedures, processes, and environment at dart and applying it appropriately. The work is of minimal complexity, low risk, and short duration.

The Engineer position is the second level of Engineer in the Engineering Department. This level is for the employee with some relevant work experience who has mastered basic engineering skills. The focus of this position is for the employee to lead moderate size projects or phases of programs. The work is of minimal to moderate complexity and risk, and medium duration.

Our Engineers must:
  • Collaborate as a productive member of project teams, and lead projects of varying size and scope (depending upon the level)
  • Demonstrate Engineering Professionalism in all activities and interactions, increase personal awareness of customer needs and implement solutions, and provide efficient service to internal and external customers
  • Schedule activities to complete assigned tasks and projects, and communicate and document requisite information, while following established Dart policies and procedures
  • Apply technical knowledge to identify process and equipment problems, recommend and implement solutions, collect and document data, and verify results
Specific Duties:

Associate Engineer:
  • Design, develop, implement, and deploy electrical control systems for manufacturing automation
  • Develop knowledge of electrical control systems for machines and processes utilized in Dart production facilities
  • Develop hands-on ability to set up, test, and troubleshoot machine and process electrical control systems
  • Work collaboratively with other Engineering groups and the Dart Machinery Manufacturing Division to efficiently build and test electrical control systems
  • Design electrical control systems of low complexity using appropriate hardware
  • Design control software of low complexity using appropriate programming language
  • Design speed and motion control systems of low complexity
  • Participate in control system upgrades to improve the safety, quality, or efficiency of machines and processes
  • Participate in Design Reviews for projects you are assigned to.
  • Assist with electrical troubleshooting support for Dart's equipment and processes
  • Assist with evaluation and resolution of mechanical and electrical design problems with Dart production machinery
  • Participate in the conception, implementation, and testing of mechanical and electrical designs
  • Create technical documentation detailing the electrical designs and software systems that define a machine or process control system
  • Design, develop, implement, and deploy electrical control systems for manufacturing automation
  • Perform software development in a variety of control programming languages as appropriate
  • Design, develop, and troubleshoot communications systems, including serial, industrial, and Ethernet networks
  • Provide electrical troubleshooting support for Dart’s equipment and processes
  • Direct and coordinate the work of Associate Engineers, Designers, Technicians, and other project team members
  • Create project requests, definitions, and plans
  • Document work in regularly scheduled progress reports and final reports
  • Perform design and development of medium complexity for speed and motion control systems
  • Create robust technical documentation detailing the electrical designs and software systems that define a machine or Electrical Engineering system
  • Stay abreast of new technologies through technical journals, internet, trade shows, seminars, and working with vendors
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Position experience levels are:
    • Associate Level : will meet the minimum requirements listed below
    • Engineer Level : will meet the minimum requirements and also meet or exceed the preferred requirements listed below
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering related field
  • 3 years of Engineer related experience preferred
  • Requires at least 1 year of experience designing, developing, implementing and troubleshooting motion control systems, including variable frequency drives and servo control; prefer 3 years
  • Requires at least 1 year of experience designing, developing, implementing, and troubleshooting electrical control systems such as PLC, relay logic, and control networks; prefer 3 years
  • Requires good verbal and written communication skills; prefer strong communication skills
  • Requires at least 1 year of experience in word processing, spreadsheet software, internet and email; prefer 3 years
  • Experience with Word, Excel, and Lotus Notes is a plus

  • Requires at least 1 year of experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD); 3 years of experience working with AutoCAD is a plus
  • Requires the understanding and application of trigonometry and calculus
  • Electrical control system experience in manufacturing automation is a plus
  • Knowledge and experience with industrial control networks is a plus
  • Three years of experience with Automation Software, specifically Rockwell hardware and software products is a plus
  • Experience using HMI and Ladder Logic is a plus
  • Experience with 5S Procedures is a plus
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and favorable motor vehicle report
  • Requires the ability to obtain and maintain a passport
  • Requires the ability to travel up to 25% percentage domestically and/or internationally
