Flint Hills Resources’ Pine Bend Refinery in Rosemount, Minn., is among the top processors of Canadian crude in the United States and a leader in providing cleaner-burning and high-performance fuels. The refinery produces fuels such as gasoline, diesel, propane and butane, used throughout Minnesota and the Upper Midwest. It supplies much of the jet fuel used at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. The refinery, which celebrated 50 years of operation in 2005, also manufactures asphalt, heating fuels, and sulfur for fertilizers.
As a member of the refinery’s electrical team, the Power Distribution System Program Owner will work with other engineers and plant personnel providing electrical reliability engineering support to meet the reliability plan for the plant wide Power Distribution System assets. The position will be multi-faceted in that you will be working within the plant wide power distribution system (Transformers, Distribution Breakers/Switches, etc.) as well as developing/implementing reliability strategies to support the Distribution System
The Power Distribution System Program Owner role will provide project support to both Maintenance Engineering projects and Capital projects by maintaining an awareness of Electrical Standards, flagging/addressing project issues relative to those standards, and supporting the change management process.
Additionally, this role will develop Electrical related scopes that are based on sound and economically viable repair/replacement decisions via the Maximo (CMMS) work flow process. An ability to identify, develop and champion improvements in the work flow process is expected. Experience with RCFA (Root Cause Failure Analysis) methodologies and application to problem solving are a must.
Demonstrable skills in critical and economic thinking and capturing this through strong written and verbal communication skills are required in this role. The ability to identify, develop and champion improvements in the reliability capabilities of the Work Execution organization is greatly desired.
The successful candidate will be able to excel in a multi-functional team and be able to prioritize multiple business requests.
5+ years engineering work experience in an industrial setting in Electrical Reliability and Power Distribution (480VAC to 15KV-switches, Breakers, Transformers, etc.).
Understanding of engineering documents associated with electrical systems (one lines, panel schedules, schematics, wiring diagrams)
Understanding of electrical standards (NEC Code, NFPA 70E, etc)
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
