Kelly Engineering Resources has a terrific direct hire opportunity for a Electrical Engineer for a company located the western suburbs of Chicago. Our customer provides innovative design and assembly of battery packs and chargers to the military, medical, industrial and consumer markets.

Job Scope for Electrical Engineer:
Plan and design hardware / firmware to support product applications and collaborate with project teams to successfully design, implement and validate system requirements. Works closely with project managers, customers, software engineers and manufacturing engineers to define/capture product performance and manufacturability requirements. Responsible for leading complex design activities for the development, implementation and maintenance of engineering projects. Assignments may include product or system investigations, performance analysis, or problem troubleshooting. May supervise or coordinate the work of other hardware engineers and other technical support personnel in addition to coach/mentor others to succeed.

Job Responsibilities of Electrical Engineer:
Ability to take a hands on role for hardware/firmware design and engineering of battery packs & charger systems including those with network bus communication protocols
Analyze customer product and system requirements documentation in order to develop internal product specifications and development plans
Ability to design and document robust hardware architecture and structure suitable for use in high reliability embedded applications
Lead and conduct design reviews of system strategy and implementation including hardware/software interaction
Lead electrical hardware component selection/optimization for microcontrollers and battery/charger management devices
Provide necessary sustaining support to existing products and work in a cross functional team environment to assure hardware system integration and design for manufacturability and test
Participate in DFMEA & PMFEA development process to ensure products conform to customer specifications and requirements
Maintain an awareness of customer requirements and any complaints to identify any areas that may need development or improvement
Strictly adhere to policies, procedures and processes established, supporting efficiencies and improvements where applicable

Qualifications for Electrical Engineer:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 5 yrs of related experience
Complete product lifecycle development experience in the electronics industry desired
Experience in design practices for EMC and resolution of EMI
Experience working with analog circuit simulation tools, ie., PSPICE. Knowledge of Schematic Capture and PCB layout software
Skilled in application of design, hardware, circuitry and demonstrated experience in implementing product concepts into real products
Knowledge of firmware & programming
Thorough understanding of and demonstrated experience in application of scientific method to electronics system design and troubleshooting
Demonstrated experience with embedded microcontroller technologies or related disciplines
Demonstrated design, test and troubleshooting experience with analog and digital circuits and electronic test equipment
