The purpose of this position is to complete routine and emergency repairs and install electrical systems and equipment. This is accomplished by maintaining and repairing electrical equipment and roadway lighting, re-erecting damaged light poles, and installing new systems and wiring. Other duties include completing minor construction and assisting with sanding duties during inclement weather.
Installs, repairs and troubleshoots electrical equipment by operating vehicles and equipment, testing instruments and tools, designing and installing electrical equipment and power, following all code and safety procedures, communicating with departments and contractors, and completing special projects.
Completes sanding duties by operating trucks and materials during inclement weather, and inspecting roads, bridges and overpasses.
Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency.
Over one year up to and including three years.
Work requires the occasional direction of helpers, assistants, seasonal employees, interns, or temporary employees.
Work requires regular interaction involving exchange and receipt of information.
Receives Direction: The employee normally performs the duty assignment after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results. There is some opportunity for discretion when making selections among a few, easily identifiable choices. The assignment is usually reviewed upon completion.
Skilled: Work requires a comprehensive, practical knowledge of a technical field with use of analytical judgment and decision-making abilities appropriate to the work environment of the organization.
Intermediate - Ability to read papers, periodicals, journals, manuals, dictionaries, thesauruses, and encyclopedias. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in high school up to college. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
Basic - Ability to perform the four basic arithmetic operations. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in elementary school up to high school. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
Basic - Ability to write simple sentences containing subject, verb, and object, and/or series of numbers, names, and addresses. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in elementary school up to high school. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
Valid Intrastate Commercial Driver’s License.
