This position is responsible for performing all types of general maintenance work primarily of a mechanical and electrical nature. In addition, the incumbent must be able to handle the major overhaul of equipment as well as the setting up of new equipment.
This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor, along with two Mechanical Maintenance Workers
To troubleshoot electrical and mechanical maintenance problems associated with equipment and infrastructure of the Maumee facility.
To implement scheduled and preventive maintenance programs of an electrical and mechanical nature.
To accomplish major projects, such as installation of new equipment, major repairs on existing equipment, shutdown maintenance, etc.
To occasionally lead a maintenance crew and provide functional supervision for several crew members, primarily during shutdowns or major jobs.
To routinely generate mechanical and electrical work orders so that maintenance jobs can be scheduled and completed in an organized manner.
To have a thorough understanding of all the administrative aspects of the maintenance functions. This includes the ordering of parts, the purchase order filing system, work orders, etc. To also assist the Maintenance Supervisor in refining, maintaining and working within the system.
To maintain strong working relationships with peers and other plant personnel.
To work within established safety standards and keep plant in proper safe operating condition.
The incumbent will have frequent contact with peers and coworkers throughout the facility. The incumbent must maintain quality work performance in effective electrical/mechanical maintenance while completing work assignments and must be conscientious of establishing and maintaining credibility among location departments.
The incumbent receives oral and written instructions from the Maintenance Supervisor and completes assignments accordingly.
The Maintenance Supervisor schedules jobs on a daily and weekly basis for the Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance Worker. Other than occasionally consulting with the Engineering Department or the Supervisor for technical and administrative assistance, the incumbent will work independently in completing work assignments.
This position requires 2-4 years of progressive work experience in a manufacturing or related environment with demonstrated self-direction and interpersonal skills. Additional qualifications include the following:
A. Ability to read and translate electrical blueprints, identify electrical components, understand relay logic, solid state equipment, and follow electrical circuitry sufficiently for effective troubleshooting and training of others.
B. Ability to use electrical hand tools such as hand conduit benders, fish tape, voltage meters, meggers, arnmeters, wire pullers, electrical drills, portable generators, etc.
C. Ability to install and troubleshoot AC and DC power distribution; install or replace transformers, wire control panels, motors and switchboards, troubleshoot and adjust generators and instrumentation on all equipment.
D. Ability to perform complex. troubleshooting such as palletizers, automatic bagging lines, electronic scales, electronic stretch wrap machine, air and hydraulic systems and conveyor systems.
E. Ability to perform general maintenance work involving welding, plumbing and mechanical maintenance.
F. Ability to use hand tools, shop tools, and measuring tools.
This position involves frequent exposure to adverse weather conditions, dirt, noise, climbing, working in strained positions, and intermittent lifting of heavy objects. This position will require shift work during busy season(s).

7.) Assist Maintenance Supervisor in maintaining an effective purchasing and filling system.
8.) Develop and maintain strong working relationships with peers and other plant personnel.
9.) Develop and maintain knowledge of all safety procedures and policies relating to this position and the overall facility. Enforce the use of all necessary safety equipment and procedures ensuring safe operation.
10.) Contribute effectively toward an open relationship with the Maintenance Supervisor.
