Operate all types of test equipment to test electrical systems. Inspects and conduct tests of complex electrical power systems including circuit breakers ,relay systems, and power metering.; Evaluate test results and power system performance; recommend actions to maintain or improve system performance. Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain software controlled lighting systems.
•Perform all aspects of testing and maintenance of electrical power distribution systems.
•Perform transformer tests, automatic transfer switch testing, power meter repair and high voltage circuit breaker testing through the 15KV class..
•Perform relay calibration
•Ability to use and interpret load and power quality recording instrumentation, infrared scanners, medium voltage breaker, relay , switchgear, cable and other electrical equipment testing results.
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain software controlled outdoor and indoor lighting systems.
Required Education and Experience
Relevant Associate's Degree or certification program of comparable scope in construction, mechanical or electrical technology and 7 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Attributes
Working knowledge in specific facility systems. Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and pneumatic equipment, and building automation systems. Knowledge and use of specialized tools.
Excellent troubleshooting skills. Ability to read blueprints. Good project administration skills. Strong communication, team and interpersonal skills.
Additional Required Knowledge, Skills and Attributes
•Demonstrated experience with testing ,repair, and preventative maintenance of: Cables, Bussways, Switchgear, Switchboards, Motor Control Centers, Switching Devices, Breakers , Fuses, Protective Relays, Power Meters, Battery Systems , Surge Arrestors, Capacitors , Reactors, Grounding Systems, and lighting control systems.
•Ability and willingness to train other technicians and electricians.
•Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and NFPA 70E.
•Passed the NETA (National Electrical Testing Association) Electrical Testing Technician exam or NICET Level 3 or 4 Electrical Power Testing exam.
•Good theoretical understanding of electrical power systems, and good aptitude for problem evaluation.
•Ability to lift and move test sets.
•Ability to maintain building security, fire, and lighting control systems
•Experience in coordination of electrical systems.
