Electrical Project Engineer Scope of Position Provide technical support to Development and Implementation Departments in design and build renewable energy projects, including oversight of the interconnection process.

Working Conditions 75% of time is spent in the office environment utilizing computers (frequent use of Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, EasyPower or SEL- Software Solutions, AutoCAD, telephone, mobile phone, and general office equipment. 25% of time is spent outside of the office, assessing existing and potential project sites, and working on specific wind and solar projects.

Responsibilities
• Serve as Project Engineer for wind and solar projects.
• Prepare Scope of Work documents and Technical Specifications relating to electrical engineering for bid documents for Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts.
• Evaluate proposals relative to electrical engineering submitted from bidders for EPC contracts, and make recommendations for award of contracts with respect to electrical engineering aspects of proposals.
• Perform and evaluate short-circuit study, AFHS and system coordination studies.
• Prepare and review technical specifications for transformers (all types for HV, MV and LV), inverters breakers, cables, etc.
• Review contractor’s submittals for approval and respond to RFIs.
• Perform cost estimates for collection systems (underground and overhead), MV and HV substations and switchyards, transmission line, capacitor banks, dynamic VAR support etc.
• Coordinate work with construction team and business development units.
• Visit project sites to attend project meetings, observe field conditions, evaluate environmental constraints, resolve problems, and perform special inspections.
• Manage routine project management duties including contract administration.
• Attend regularly scheduled in-house team meetings.
• Project management duties as requested
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• MS/BS in electrical engineering degree.
• A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in design and development of power projects or a related field. Wind and Solar energy experience a plus.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal, especially with respect to explaining technical matters in layman’s terms.
• Computer skills including AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Willingness to travel within the identified region. Travel is anticipated to be approximately 30% of the work schedule.
• Working experience with NFPA, OSHA, IEEE and IEC.
• Working experience within the renewable energy field.
• A quick learner with ability to synthesize information from different sources.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal, especially with respect to explaining technical matters in layman’s terms.
• Possess mature and friendly interpersonal skills, works well with others.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Able and experienced in managing and performing a wide variety of wind and solar projects in a fast paced work environment.
• Willing and able to travel to out-of-state project sites including over-night stays.
