We are currently seeking an Electrical Service Technician to provide performance testing, preventative maintenance, repairs, equipment modifications, and troubleshooting for commercial solar photovoltaic electric systems at various site locations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Test, Analyze, and Repair problems in Photovoltaic Inverters and monitoring (DAS) Systems, as well as other components of large ( >30KW) PV facilities
Coordinate on-site project planning, installations, commissioning, quality inspections, and performance testing of those powerplants
Perform moderately complex but repetitive testing, and troubleshooting
Uses, maintains, and secures test devices and tools used to adjust, calibrate, and repair equipment; including clamp-on meters, PQA, IV Curve tracer
Ensures that service commitments are met within expected response time
Communicates any special problems to Director of Service immediately
Manages vehicle inventory and restocks as necessary
Completes required paperwork - time sheets, service orders, forms, inventory, expense reports, and equipment related items
Adhere to departmental procedures and safety requirements (OSHA, NFPA 70E, etc)
Other duties as assigned
Ideal candidate will have experience in electrical mechanical maintenance and experience in medium and low voltage and AC power supplies
Some degree of experience with DC voltage in relationship to Photovoltaic power generation
Ability to understand and troubleshoot DAS (SCADA) communications (typically TCP/IP) so as to resolve problems with those devices in the field
Ability to work well with subcontracted Construction personnel in resolution of issues identified in the field during that phase of a project
Adequate computer skills required (particularly MS Office suite of products)
Clean DMV printout and valid Nevada State Drivers License required
Must be certified in the State of Nevada with current Journeyman Electrician Certification (at minimum), or a license from another state which reciprocates with Nevada
Heavy lifting is expected
Ability to work in heat and cold i.e. full sun where temperature can be triple digits or no sun where temperature can be below freezing
Good manual dexterity for the use of hand tools
Ability to interpret electrical code
Activities can include extended periods of standing, bending, kneeling
The job is performed outdoors in a variety of settings typically at large ( > 100 acres) land sites.
Possible hazardous conditions on and around scaffolding and heavy equipment.
Exposure to loud noises, dust, dirt, and smoke may occur
Protective PPE is required including appropriate construction grade boots, gloves, hardhat, goggles, pants and shirt are required
