TransCore, a subsidiary of Roper Industries, Inc. (NYSE: ROP) is seeking a full-time Systems Manager to join our Mid-Atlantic electronic toll collection system development team in Ashburn, VA.
The Systems Manager will be responsible for leading a regional team of engineers, developers, and technicians in the design, implementation and maintenance of TransCore’s advanced electronic toll collection systems. The scope of responsibility includes project sites in Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina. Other duties include but are not limited to:
Provide technical oversight and guidance to staff to assure successful execution of the engineering responsibilities on regional toll collection system projects Interface with current and prospective clients to evaluate expectations and ensure satisfaction Make recommendations on toll related applications and /or custom solutions which include a number of technologies spanning various toll disciplines to meet or exceed customer requirements Assist in troubleshooting system and hardware engineering issues Assist network designers and administrators with application installation and testing Write technical procedures and documentation for the applications including installation, maintenance, operations, user guide, etc. Assist in the creation of the system design and functional specifications for all new development projects Provide performance management and developmental opportunities to existing staff as well as recruit new talent in order to meet technical gaps Develops solutions to meet customer upgrade requests and or requirements Direct fabrication and installation of mechanical and electrical components
Required Skills and Experience:
5-8 years of experience in the tolling industry or in a related area, including systems engineering that involves the integration of hardware, software and electrical/electronic components Bachelor degree in an engineering and/or computer technology discipline; Masters degree a plus Strong background in industrial electronic and/or computer system design along with hands on experience in the design and fabrication of Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) Demonstrated experience with regression testing techniques and tools along with project management and project financial tracking applications Good understanding of lean engineering, quality engineering, reliability engineering, and obsolesces engineering techniques Experience in requirements gathering and documentation, risk management & mitigation, project planning and technical project management Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Must be able to rely on experience and judgment to trouble shoot issues and accomplish goals Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage ever changing priorities
