DESCRIPTION

Electrician will work under general direction to perform the full range of skilled and complex tasks to ensure the electrically controlled and operated equipment and systems function properly. This includes electrical construction, installation, maintenance and repair of casino facilities, modelers, and parking lot lighting. Electrical Technician will be working with or around high voltage (480- 208 volts, 3phrase system) distribution and control systems and large motors and pumps. Assists the Facilities department in the maintenance, repair, cleaning and safety of all guest and employee areas as well as parking lot, grounds and adjacent lots to include any off property site used by the company.

DUTIES

  • Perform journey level electrical work as required to maintain, install, or repair all casino electrical systems.
  • Perform skilled electrical installation, maintenance, and repair work involving casino facilities, buildings, and parking lot/building lighting systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on parking lot / building lighting, electrical systems, motors, and equipment, which includes the safe operation of an aerial equipment and large construction equipment.
  • Inspect newly installed electrical equipment and lighting to ensure safe operation as well as code compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and associated costs.
  • Repair or replace defective or worn electrical parts, components, and controlling software in electrical systems and devices, electrical motors, generators, pumps, heating and air conditioners, lighting systems, and other fixtures and equipment.
  • Perform associated work including digging, trenching, occasional concrete finishing and removal, and lifting electrical equipment, conduit, and pipe.
  • In addition to the duties listed in the Essential Duties section, each employee in this classification may perform the following duties. Any single position may not be assigned all duties listed below, nor do the examples cover all duties which may be assigned.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment to determine the nature of the problem; repair small and large electrical appliances; repair electronic components of electrical equipment as required for continued operation; make emergency electrical repairs to parking lot lighting, generators and pumps, as required; and perform related duties as assigned.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events.
Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Exposure to airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Exposure to second hand smoke.
  • Moderate Noise Level.
QUALIFICATIONS

Certificates, licenses and registration

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Gaming Commission license. Required to submit to and obtain negative results on all drug and/or alcohol testing.
Education/ Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • Knowledge of: Methods, materials, tools, equipment, and procedures used in the installation, maintenance, repair, replacement, and alteration of electrical equipment; components and parts used in modern electrical wiring systems such as pumps, motors, controls, and lighting; basic principles and components found in electronic control and micro processing devices; occupational hazards and safety precautions necessary in electrical work.
  • Sufficient experience as a journey level electrician in a municipal, commercial or industrial environment to demonstrate possession of the knowledge and abilities listed above.
  • Basic understanding of overhead line construction, National Electric Code and Federal and State Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards is required.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions regarding work methods and tools; Read, interpret, apply, and enforce applicable codes and standards as related to electrical installation
  • Apply State, Federal, and local safety regulations and codes to electrical work.
  • Work safely both independently and as a crew member on high voltages up to 600 volts A.C.
  • Work safely near energized Edison primary and secondary lines with voltages up to 4160 A.C.
  • Provide technical assistance and work direction to other staff members
  • Understand and interpret written and oral instructions; comprehend and make inferences from written material; read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and work orders
  • Prepare and maintain records, reports, and work estimates.
  • Perform work at heights and in emergency and hazardous situations.
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds
