Maintenance Electrician will perform duties including but not limited to electrical repairs, installations, inspections
and preventive maintenance of electrical lines, machinery and mining equipment throughout the operation, including all
buildings on the mine site. MSHA-Certified in low-, medium- and high-voltage preferred. Must be able to read and comprehend electrical literature, technical data and blueprints. Must be able to climb, including but not limited to a 25’ ladder, a 90’ pole, and ascend a 320’ dragline boom at a 33-degree angle and 189’ from the ground. Must be able to carry, hold, turn and operate hand and power tools weighing up to 40 lbs. Must be able to walk and stand on uneven and wet surfaces for extended periods of time (entire shift) in all weather conditions. Must be able to work rotating shifts and overtime. Employees will be required to follow any other job-related instructions and to perform any other job-related duties/functions requested by their supervisor.
Employees in this classification perform electrical repairs to provide continuous operation of machinery and equipment.
An electrician must furnish his own tools as per PNMS requirements. An electrician will use a variety of hand tools, power tools, bench grinders and band saws and may operate welding and cutting torch equipment. Employees will operate light to heavy vehicles and must comply with state and federal health and safety regulations, company policies and procedures and the company’s environmental compliance policy. Employees will assume direction from the Electrical Supervisor on duties as needed and perform other duties as directed and needed by the company to ensure optimal safe operation. Employees must also maintain acceptable attendance on the job.
Must have current MSHA Certification for Surface Coal Mines under Part 77.103.
Must pass outside electrical test (approved by company)
Must pass internal PNMS Electrical Tech III evaluation as determined by company.
