Performs skilled level electrician work in the maintenance, construction, installation, alteration, and repair of electrical systems, equipment and fixtures in accordance with standard practices of the electrical trade for primarily commercial and industrial applications. These duties are performed in various City departments. Positions may be assigned to shop or field locations. Certain assignments may include electronics metering and instrumentation and working with various voltage. Assignments are received by sketches, blueprints and work orders. Vacancies are anticipated over the life of this eligible-to-hire list.

$23.51 (minimum) - $28.69 (maximum) hourly / $48,901- $59,675 annually


To meet the minimum qualifications for this recruitment, you must have:

- Completed a 4 year recognized apprentice program OR

- 3 years as a skilled electrician

- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and education may be considered.

- All positions in the Aviation Department require individuals to pass a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) background check prior to hire and a TSA Security Threat Assessment screening.


A well-qualified candidate will possess the job requirements listed above, plus:

- Ability to work second shift, nights, weekends and holidays

- Work in small, cramped areas such as ceiling crawl spaces, and equipment enclosures

- Work at heights greater than ten feet

- May require working outside in a variety of environmental extremes such as heat, cold, rain, air pollution, and dust.

- Commercial and/or industrial experience

- Medium voltage experience

- Knowledge of NFPA70E

For the current vacancy in Aviation , preferred qualifications also include:

- Experience working with airfield lighting, heavy equipment, and metering devices

- Reviewing plans, making recommendations, and working with contractors

- Knowledge of aircraft movement area operations, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations

For the current vacancy in Street Transportation , preferred qualifications also include:

- Coordinate and monitor work performed by Electrician Helpers

- Act as crew leader for construction projects in the field under direction of a supervisor.

- Work at heights greater than thirty five feet

- Reviewing plans, making recommendations, and working with contractors

- Ability to understand the hazards and perform work in high vehicle traffic areas.
