This position is for a Systems Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the aircraft installed Fuel System.Overall Responsibilities include:

a. Generation and maintenance of installed Fuel System requirements and associated verifications including generation of verification plans, test plans, test procedures, test cards, test reports, and verification analyzes.
b. Generation of Installed Fuel System design and analyzes: Electrical, mechanical, electro mechanical, installation, interfaces, environmental, etc.
c. Integrating and adapting 747-400 Fuel System components into the new airframe. Requires Aircraft Mechanical-Electrical Systems Engineering experience.
d. Interfaces with program assigned electrical engineers and Customer engineers for aircraft installed Fuel Systems components and wiring. Responsible for the review and release of system electrical block diagrams, electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
e. Interfaces with program assigned mechanical engineers, design engineers, and Customer engineers for the mechanical/structural integration and installation of Fuel System components into the airframe. Responsible for the review and release of system mechanical block diagrams, detail drawings, assembly drawings and installation drawings.
f. Generate and coordinate system interfaces including Propulsion, APU, electrical power, mechanical, structural, controls, indications etc. Generate and maintain Interface Control Documents/Drawings as required.
g. Specify, control and coordinate Fuel System aircraft controls and indications.
h. Generate system operating instructions including normal, abnormal, and emergency procedures.
i. Specify and coordinate Fuel System failure modes and effects, functional hazards and other system safety concerns with the System Safety group and interfacing system organizations.
j. Interface and coordinate engineering issues with the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) engineering organizations as required.
k. Support Aircraft manufacturing (engineering liaison as required)
l. Troubleshoot the installed Propulsion, Pneumatic and APU systems down to the LRU/component level during installation, system checkout phase and throughout aircraft ground and flight tests.
m. Recommends and implements any Fuel System subsystem checkout and test based design changes.
n. Generate system airworthiness requirements [ie. Maintenance instructions/manuals down to the Line Replaceable Units (LRU) Removal and Replacement level] Required Education and Experience:

Minimum Qualifications is any of the following:

Education:
PhD Degree and 4 year(s) related experience
Masters Degree and 6 year(s) related experience
Bachelors Degree and 8 year(s) related experience

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:

Proficient in fuel systems engineering, integration, installation, test and supportability of large commercial aircraft Fuel Systems. 747-400 fuel system experience a plus.

Includes:

Fuel Flow Analysis
Fueling / Defueling Analysis
Fuel Tank Sizing and definition including tank ullage and tank fluid dynamics
Fuel Vent System Sizing and System definition
Fuel Tank bulk thermal analysis
Basic knowledge in fuel quantity systems
Basic knowledge in composite aircraft fuel tank installations and design constraints
Basic knowledge in aircraft system electrical schematics and wiring diagrams evaluation and generation Basic weight and balance knowledge including calculating system weights and cg estimates
Knowledge of 14 CFR part 25 regulations specifically pertaining to the Propulsion System, fuel system, pneumatics system and APU design.
Effective verbal and written communicator
Versed in technical writing and presentations
Motivated problem solver and troubleshooter
Proficient in PC use including Microsoft Office Products
Basic knowledge and use of Microsoft Visio
Basic knowledge of System Analysis Tools: Matlab, Excel, Flowmaster
Basic Knowledge of 2D/3D CAD modeling programs: CATIA V5, SolidWorks, AutoCad
