Under general supervision of department supervisor, operate Docutechs and Laser Printers. Sets up, adjusts, monitors, operates and maintains electronic duplicator system. Operates and maintains system to maximize quality of productivity. Responsible for drilling, stapling, collating, folding trimming, padding, etc. of printed/copied material. Performs operator maintenance, monitors copy quality and inventory of stocks and supplies. Provides assistance to other functions in the department when machines are inoperable or constant monitoring is not necessary.

Essential Responsibilities/Accountabilities
  • In accordance with established procedures, will operate Docutechs and Laser Printers. Review job requests and print on a timely basis. Operators are responsible for the delivery of completed quick copy and laser printing to the appropriate delivery stations. Monitors the quality and completeness of jobs. Checks print quality and accuracy on a regular basis. Maintains the Docutechs and Laser Printers in accordance with manufacture specifications.
  • Responsible for maintaining inventory of print-related supplies such as paper, preprinted covers, toner, developer and other machine-related supplies.
  • Perform all bindery functions as noted on work order/job tickets. This may include: folding, cutting, padding, numbering, GBC punching, spiral or coil binding, fastback, collating, scoring, perforating, drilling, stitching or stapling, laminating and wrapping.
  • Process handwork assembly according to specifications.
    • Package jobs, complete work orders, tickets, and delivery receipts as necessary and place in their assigned areas.
  • Equipment and Supplies Clean and maintain equipment and work area following maintenance procedures and update maintenance logs. Monitor and manage inventory of bindery supplies; order and stock as instructed by supervisor. Inform supervisor of equipment problems.
  • Performs routine equipment maintenance such as adding toner and lubricant. Observes safety and cleanliness standards with the work area. Operator will contact service to report any problems or to seek information.
  • Will be responsible for operating several of the following pieces of equipment; hydraulic drill, power cutter, three-knife trimmer, stitcher/folder/collator, Baum folder, etc.
  • Will also complete filing and picking up request for microfilm and records retention.
  • Observes safety and housekeeping standards in work area. Maintains appropriate files, records and equipment manuals.
  • Provide assistance to other departments when a machine is inoperable (may do hand stuffing, fill supply orders, etc.)
  • May perform other departmental functions as workload demands.

  • Maintains high regard for member privacy in accordance with the corporate privacy policies and procedures.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.
  • Performs other functions as assigned by management.
  • Equivalent to a high school or vocational education.
  • Background in printing or electronic reproduction is essential.
  • Knowledge of the operation of computer work stations including software commands, touch screen or mouse, storage and manipulation of information.
  • Six to twelve months in the position required learning routines, machine operation and otherwise achieving proficiency.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and lifting up to 50 lb. necessary.
  • Good manual dexterity and understanding of collating and bindery procedures required.
  • Should be able to prioritize assignments, work independently and possess strong organizational skills.
