The Electronic Security Technician (EST) is responsible for the installation and servicing of Electronic Security Systems (ESS). ESS are a compilation of security appliances that include Access Control, badging, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), and interior/exterior Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) for domestic and overseas Government interests.

Duties and responsibilities:

We are seeking an experienced Electronic Security Technician with experience in providing inspections, troubleshooting, testing, programming, and repairing ESS.

Perform system functionality testing of equipment, identifying and correcting security appliance faults.

Maintain accurate records by documenting installations and services performed.

Assist in the development of comprehensive security designs that follow approved Design Concept and comply with local state, federal, and international Building Codes, NEC Codes, and Scope of Work documentation.

Plans ESS installations by reviewing design packages that include cabling riser diagrams, bill of materials, power/signal runs, security appliance details, schedules, and schematics

Interacts with customers and Project Managers to ensure that the client’s needs are met and the project plan stays on track and budget.

Determines appropriate installation procedures and details those that are non-standard through Request for Information (RFI’s) and documents deviations with Request for Change (RFC’s).

Willingness to travel 80% of the time

Education and Work Experience
Technical degree with an emphasis in electronics, this may be substituted with a combination of experience/education.

Must be US citizen and will be subjected to a Government security investigation. Understanding of requirements in accordance with NFPA 72, Underwriter’s Laboratory and local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).

Have a thorough understanding of the principles of various low voltage systems and circuits.

Factory certifications for HIRSCH Electronics or Soft Warehouse, IStar, Physical Access Control Systems (PACS) are desired.

Responsible, self-motivated, self-starter, detail-oriented, personable, time management skills, and well organized.

Superior customer service skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficient in computers – MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, and MS Outlook.

At least 1 year as a Security Systems Technician or equivalent with experience in the following is a plus.

Ademco, NAPCO, Radionics, ITI, DSX

CCTV: Pelco, Bosch, Panasonic, AXIS, American Dynamics

Access Control: Hirsch and Software House

Electrified Power and Locking: Altronix, Moose, HES, Kaba Mass, Von Duprin, SDC, Folger Adam, Schlage Locknetics, ASSA ABLOY

Specialized Sensors: Southwest Microwave, Sensormatic, ProTech

Furniture and Racks: Middle Atlantic, Winstead, Emcore
