Tasks Supports assembly and rework of engineering prototypes during new product development cycle. Performs modifications to designs under engineering direction and verification of designs by executing engineering test plans. Responsible for overall lab organization and monitoring supply of necessary lab materials (components, solder, cables, etc.) to insure that required materials are maintained in stock. Masters basic set-up and provisioning of key wired intercoms product lines such that customer field problems and manufacturing issues can be accurately reproduced in the Burnsville lab. Will assist in troubleshooting of customer and manufacturing problems under the guidance of design engineering. Assists component and material qualifications as well as component end-of-life management in support of Design, Manufacturing, and Global Supply Chain. Performs verification of alternate components under the guidance of design engineering. Creates and submits Engineering Change documentation as required to implement changes on both existing production assemblies and new product designs. Performs first article parametric and functional verification of 1) mechanical part samples; 2) prototype PCBAs; 3) pre-production product samples. This will be performed using a documented test plan under guidance from design engineering.

Requirements Electronics Technician degree (or equivalent) with 2+ years experience as an electronics technician in an R&D environment. Practiced competency in fine pitch soldering and rework. Knowledge of best soldering & handling practices in working with static sensitive, lead free and lead-based designs. Working knowledge of circuit boards, electronics components, computer hardware / software. Digital or analog design experience a plus. Software / Firmware programming experience and script creation for automated testing a strong plus. Working knowledge of proper use of engineering measurement equipment, including multimeters, power supplies, digital oscilloscopes and logic analyzers. Schematic Entry experience. Experience creating / submitting engineering change documentation. Experience with SAP a plus. Good electronics troubleshooting skills. Must be able to demonstrate a methodical process and critical thinking skills to troubleshoot and determine root cause and corrective action for faulty systems. Strong communication skills (both oral and written). Ability to document basic test plans. Ability to interface with diverse teams. Possible need to interface with external customers.
