Electronics and Test Technician (Job Number: 321165)
SAIC Carderock currently has an opening for an Electronics and Test Technician. We are looking for an energetic, motivated, independent, self starter for a challenging position supporting a dynamic organization that develops and produces state of the art training and simulation systems. Candidate will perform electronics and test duties associated with the installation and maintenance of US Navy training systems. These training systems are principally shore based (both CONUS and OCONUS), but some are sea based. Candidate will be responsible for the set up, calibration, testing, and/or trouble shooting of instruments, mechanical assemblies, and electrical assemblies. Candidate must be proficient with a soldering iron. Candidate must demonstrate experience building computer equipment racks and cabinets. Candidate must have experience cabling computer networks and building Cat5 cables and harnesses. Candidate must be able to recognize failures and set up problems, and determine the need for appropriate verification. Candidate will prepare written reports and make recommendations for procedural changes. Candidate may operate drill presses or other machine tools to fabricate parts. Candidate will also assist with packing and shipping activities for large trainer deliveries.
A significant amount of travel is required to trainer sites and will account for 20% - 30% of the job.
Education: AA degree in electronic technology. Experience as a Navy ET, ST or FT may be substituted for the education requirement.
Candidate must have 5+ years experience in a broad range of assignments in technical tasks directly related to the job description.
Candidate must have direct experience with Intel based servers, display and I/O hardware, KVMs, audio and communications systems and Cisco routers and switches. Candidate must demonstrate a general commitment to excellence and a dedication to producing quality work results. Candidate must be committed to customer service, well organized, able to plan and prioritize assignments, and able to successfully handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Candidate must be able to work with minimal supervision and work well under deadlines, frequently with quick turnaround. Candidate must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, be courteous and professional when interacting with colleagues and customers, demonstrate a solid ability to identify and solve problems, and be able to work successfully in a team environment.
Candidate must be a US citizen and be eligible to obtain a DoD Secret level clearance.
Successful candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Technical Degree or Equivalent technical military training, extensive soldering skills or certification, circuit board repair, Autocad or Visio experience, knowledge of audio systems, experience operating and maintaining secure IT systems, and experience with Linux.
