Manager –

Electrophysiology Services- Electrophysiology Lab (MHB) : Responsible for planning, coordinating, organizing, and directing all Invasive/Interventional staff including operational aspects of the Electrophysiology Labs at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo. The Electrophysiology Services Manager/Coordinator is responsible for the managing and coordinating care of patients undergoing electrophysiology procedures. The main responsibilities include maintaining program expansion and physician and associate satisfaction by ensuring staff is properly trained for scrubbing, monitoring, and circulating for all electrophysiology cases. Seeks opportunities to foster growth, innovation and efficiency. Ensures fiscal responsibility for the department through accurate charge capture. Shares as a team member under the leadership and in collaboration with the Senior Director for Cardiology for Catholic Health, and the Manager of Invasive Interventional Services the accountability for the 24 hour management of personnel, compliance with regulatory and professional standards, strategic planning and the fostering of inter-multidisciplinary collaborative relationships within the Department of Invasive and Interventional Services.

REPORTS TO: Senior Director of Cardiac Services

Department Chief of Cardiology, Medical Directors for Interventional Cardiology, Electrophysiology and Stroke Services for Catholic Health

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Registered Nurses, Radiology technicians, Holding Room staff, patient escorts, invasive schedulers and clerical staff, inventory materials coordinator, volunteers, and students

SKILL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS (MINIMUM): Education ·
Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program
  • Current RN licensure in the State of New York
  • Baccalaureate in Nursing required or must be actively enrolled in BSN program with completion within three (3) years of assignment, or five (5) years electrophysiology lab experience with Associates degree
  • Current BLS certification
  • Current ACLS certification or completion of course within six (6) months of assignment

Experience

· Previous experience in interventional radiology; cardiology, neurology, radiology and/or electrophysiology laboratory required

Knowledge, Skill and Ability ·
Knowledge of cardiac rhythms, cardiac pathophysiology, and cardiovascular medications · Familiarity with most office and clinical computer applications (MS Office Suite, GE Hemodynamic System, SyngoDynamics) ·
Strong verbal and written communication skills ·
Interpersonal skills necessary to work productively with all levels of department personnel, as well as physicians, families, visitors, and to manage the activities of a diverse group of professional, nonprofessional, and clerical employees ·
Responds to the needs of diverse stakeholders and negotiates successful relationships among various members of the health care team
  • Possesses active listening skills
  • Planning skills to develop goals and objectives in concert with those of the hospital and implements action plans to meet those goals
  • Analytical ability to identify opportunities for improvements as well as positive problem resolution
  • Teaching abilities to promote optimum orientation and continuing education of staff
  • Budgeting skills to control fiscal operations of selected unit(s) and/or area(s) of responsibility and to identify and explain variances
  • Has current knowledge of health care trends and issues and relates same to hospital and work area environment
  • Occasional prolonged standing, walking, sitting
