Eligibility Specialist will obtain essential income and demographic information from the KIDS computer system, state computer system and interviews with clients. Eligibility Specialist will be responsible for making eligibility determinations based on information gathered in interviews with caseworkers, case file and fiscal file review, resulting in a compilation of a file that contains all documentation necessary to support the County claim for federal foster care monies. Additional responsibilities will include:
*Working collaboratively with caseworkers and supervisors to ensure that paperwork is completed in a timely manner.
*Understanding and interpreting Title IV-E regulations in order to make correct assessments.
*Certifying findings of the fiscal staff through a thorough review of the child’s case file to gather all pertinent information and ensure that all Title IV-E eligibility criteria are met.
*Constructing an eligibility file that integrates fiscal, casework and placement history information and is in compliance with all Title IV-E regulations.
*Repairing cases that do not meet quality standards.
*Maintaining case files by completing redeterminations twice a year. Updating demographic data in order to ensure accuracy of KIDS information.
*Attending all staff meetings, individual and group supervisory conferences and training programs designed to develop and enhance knowledge and performance.
*Coordinating random moment questionnaires for their regional office.
*Assisting with juvenile probation, adoption assistance and specialized legal custodianship determinations as needed.
Bachelor's degree in social work or related field, plus one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to organize detailed information and excellent writing skills are important. Work hours will be flexible and include evenings and occasional weekends. Transportation is required to make home visits with clients.
