EMPLOYEE SELECTION SPECIALIST I (3653)
SALARY RANGE: $37,006 -- $58,719

Education: Undergraduate or graduate level coursework in statistics, psychometrics, research design, general psychology, industrial/organizational psychology, personnel administration or other job related areas. A master's degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from an accredited college/university will meet the requirements for both education and experience (transcripts may be required). Please note that a pending status may apply if applicant is within 6 months of completing the degree.
Experience: One year of experience in the construction and validation of employee selection devices or any combination of job related training and experience sufficient to provide the necessary levels of theoretical knowledge and practical experience.*
* Experience in the construction of employee selection devices can include educational training, on the job training, and/or work experience, however, this MUST include independently conducting job analysis and developing selection test instruments. DESCRIPTION: The Employee Selection Specialist I performs highly complex technical work in the construction, validation, and administration of employment examinations in conformity with procedural, legal and technical guidelines and requirements. Job duties include, but are not limited to: designing and conducting recruitment strategies, including writing and publishing advertisements; reviewing applications to ensure that applicants meet the minimum qualifications; conducting job analyses, planning, developing, administering and scoring examinations; performing currency analyses, reviewing and updating examinations; compiling, publishing and maintaining eligible lists; writing technical reports to document each testing project in accordance with the Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection Procedures; and obtaining and analyzing all necessary statistics for each testing project. Additionally, this position will advise and consult management on selection, recruitment and retention issues. The current vacancies (2) are located at the Maryland Transportation Authority in Baltimore, MD; however, the eligible list resulting from this recruitment may be used to fill future Employee Selection Specialist I vacancies within MDOT.
Candidates appointed to positions in these classifications may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
