Zynga is looking for a highly qualified Employment Counsel to join its innovative legal department. In this role, you will be a point person responsible for the management of complex employment matters involving the company.
Serve as a consultant and business partner to the Human Resources (People Ops) organization by providing employment and labor law advice and strategy with respect to multiple company locations around the world.
Utilize employment dispute resolution strategies and develop the infrastructure required to prevent disputes from arising.
Educate and advise management, technical and business stakeholders on employment issues and risks; develop and administer company trainings.
Partner with People Ops in managing employee terminations, layoffs, investigations of employees’ misconduct and violations of confidentiality agreements relating to IP.
Handle in-house investigations and employee charges pending before federal and state agencies.
Assist or lead in handling all phases of litigation and pre-litigation employment disputes; hands-on role in coordinating and directing case strategy, including discovery, drafting and editing briefs, internal investigations, interviewing and preparing witnesses and negotiations with third parties.
Contribute to policies, standards and business procedures designed to foster compliance with various state and international employment laws and regulations.
Structure, negotiate and draft litigation settlement agreements, separation agreements, and other related agreements and policies.
JD degree from an ABA accredited university
Must be a member in good standing of the California Bar
Minimum of 5 years relevant employment experience in a law firm and/or corporate law department required, including both counseling and litigation
Prior in-house experience with a public company and/or experience working with Internet or high technology companies preferred
Substantive knowledge of employment and labor law
Experience with class action litigation a plus
Knowledge of social games or console games preferred
Ability to work under pressure in an intense, fast-paced environment required
Strong analytical and problem-resolution skills; exceptional business judgment, with the ability to think strategically and give practical advice by balancing business needs with legal risks
Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with, and gain the respect of, stakeholders at all levels and functions of the company
Ability to find appropriate balance between legal risks and the need of the business
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively work with various departments and levels within Zynga
Ability to handle ambiguity, juggle many matters at once and quickly shift from one situation or task to another
Ability to work under pressure with a sense of humor a must
