Job Summary

Responsible for investigating pending matters, researching and providing memoranda of law to assist Department attorneys in advising the company. Responsible for maintaining the Employment Law department databases, communicating with company personnel, outside counsel and government agencies concerning company matters and responding to discovery research requests.

Job Responsibilities
  • Research applicable law and provide memoranda on relevant topics relating to Walgreens business operations.
  • Investigate and gather information, documentation and business records to assist department attorneys in responding to government investigations, subpoenas and citations.
  • Prepare responses for attorney review and approval to state Attorney General and other government agency inquiries.
  • Organize and maintain department databases and files on a variety of legal subjects.
  • Research applicable law and provide memoranda on relevant topics relating to Walgreens business operations.
  • Investigate and gather information, documentation and business records to assist department attorneys in responding to government investigations, subpoenas and citations.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications & Interests
  • Associate's Degree in paralegal studies and at least 3 years of paralegal experience in a corporate law department or law firm OR a High School Diploma or GED and at least 5 years of paralegal experience with a law firm or corporate legal department
  • Paralegal certificate from an ABA-certified paralegal program
  • Experience evaluating information to determine compliance with standards, laws, and regulations
  • Experience gathering, analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions
  • Experience processing information (such as compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying information or data)
  • Experience with project management (for example: planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives)
  • Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates
  • Experience communicating both verbally (on the phone, one-on-one) and in writing (emails, letters) to various audiences (company personnel, outside counsel, government agencies)
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and/or print scaling)
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: inserting headers, page breaks, page numbers and tables and/or adjusting table columns)
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: applying a theme, formatting character spacing, inserting a picture, changing slide layout and theme colors, adding transitions, customizing slide numbers, changing chart style and/or formatting font)
