Job Purpose: Care and maintenance of Endoscopes and accessory equipment following infection control guidelines and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:
Turn around procedure rooms: set up and take down

Trouble shoot endoscopes in the procedure room as needed

Clean and high level disinfect endoscopes

Clean, high level disinfect or sterilize accessory equipment

Stock supplies for the Endoscopy Center and order as needed

Transporting of scopes for repair

Help clean and make beds in recovery as needed

Assist nursing staff and physicians when asked

Operation of Automated Endoscope Reprocessors, Ultrasound machines, Autoclaves, Endoscope Light Source, and Video Processors
Qualifications/Skills: The employee must be able to problem solve, multitask, pay attention to detail, prioritize, possess effective communication skills, be flexible and work effectively as part of a team.

Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or GED required. Surgical Technician preferred, not required.

Experience: Experience with equipment cleaning and reprocessing or experience as a Surgical Technician is preferred.

The employee may be required to lift and transport up to 15 pounds on occasion and reach to hang scopes and stock supplies. Must be able to stand for long periods of time and move quickly on their feet. Employees must be able to tolerate personal protective equipment including; gowns, gloves, face masks and eye protection.

Working Environment: The Endoscopy Technician works in an outpatient Endoscopy Center and rotates in and out of procedures rooms and the equipment processing room. The employee is exposed to cleaning and hazardous chemicals.
