The Endoscopy Technician is responsible for the preparation, processing, maintenance, inventory of endoscopes and accessory equipments; assists in the performance of all procedures in the Endoscopy Unit.
Admits and prepares patient for procedure in accordance with Hospital standards, policies and procedures.
Cleans, disinfects, or calibrate scopes or other endoscopic instruments according to manufacturer’s recommendation and/or Hospital’s established standards/procedures.
Performs safety checks to verify proper functioning of all equipments.
Maintains or troubleshoot endoscopic equipments.
Assists with positioning of patient and collection of specimens.
Assists physicians or registered nurse in the conduct of endoscopic procedures.
Prepares suits preceding each case in accordance with daily schedule and endoscopic procedure requirements.
Places devices such as blood pressure cuffs, pulse oximeter sensors, nasal cannulas, surgical cautery pads, and cardiac monitoring electrodes on patients to monitor and documents patient’s vital signs.
Orders supplies and other special purchase items to maintain par levels.
Attends in-service training to validate/refresh basic skills.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
