This position focuses on energy awareness and operational improvements to utilize energy more effectively and reduce energy costs in everyday operations. It will lead incorporation of energy/cost conservation technology into major facility expansions or upgrades.
Determines characteristics of desired state of refining with respect to energy conservation based on vision articulated by senior refining executives.
Develops refining-wide plan for greenhouse gas (GHG) compliance including definition of refinery-specific objectives. Ensures integration and alignment of energy initiatives with refineries' strategic and operational plans.
Participates in audits to assess current state of energy expenditures at each refinery. Works closely with refineries' leadership in conducting gap analysis to identify improvement opportunities and evaluation of potential initiatives. Includes incorporation of energy conservation technology into major facility expansions/upgrades.
Develops points of view on viability, economics and implementation risk using quantitative measurements and criteria. Makes recommendations for refining executives' approval.
Works with refineries to develop and execute action plan for approved initiatives. Monitors and reports progress. Develops metrics to measure post-implementation operating performance. Reports findings.
Monitors regulatory climate and GHG regulations during development and promulgation. Provides technical assessments of issues to Refining leadership.
Champions energy awareness and adoption of energy conservation measures with refineries. Assists refinery cross-functional teams with implementation of operational improvements to utilize energy more effectively and reduce energy costs in everyday operations.
Minimum undergraduate in chemical engineering required.
Minimum 15 years refinery engineering experience required.
