Engagement Executive – Health Care

Education & Relevant Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, master’s degree desirable.


  • Training in the Toyota Production System, LEAN, Six Sigma or other Process Improvement Skills.


  • Graduate of Intermountain Healthcare Advanced Training Program in "Quality Improvement Program (or Sister ATP program) preferred.


  • 5 year executive account management experience, ideally in health care environment.


  • At least 3 years’ program or project management experience.


  • 2+ years of management experience with clinical nurses or hospital administrative personnel.


  • Experience in building motivated, collaborative and productive development/implementation teams


  • Prefer experience with and understanding of enterprise Data Warehouse processes and lifecycles.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinates with physicians, nurses and administrative teams to implement and facilitate change management practices in health systems.


  • Coordinates project management activities throughout the project management lifecycle.


  • Performs administrative tasks required to move assigned projects through various phases including the tracking of project status and cost.


  • Facilitates recommended HDI change management processes with physicians, nurses and hospital administration.


  • Identifies and removes impediments, and prevents distractions that interfere with the ability of the team to deliver the goal.


  • Monitors and communicates key performance metrics information.


  • Provides visibility to senior management on project team status and issues.


  • Identifies and coordinates dependencies with external teams.


  • Promotes a collaborative team environment that fosters creativity and innovation.


  • Promotes continuous improvement and helps teams to increase productivity.


  • Coordinates and schedules the execution of deliverables across multiple teams.


Job Summary

The Engagement Executive is an executive account and program manager. The Engagement Executive has several primary functions:

  • The Engagement Executive is responsible for the overall health system account engagement, client relationship and client satisfaction. The Engagement Executive interacts with director and c-level health system executives on a regular basis. The Engagement Executive continually looks for opportunities to educate and share the HDI vision with health system executives and clinician thought leaders.


  • The Engagement Executive acts as the overall program manager and primary point of contact between the account and HDI. He or she acts as the facilitator of a cross-functional team. He or she is the primary logistical program manager, managing the master project plan, including budget, contracts, resources, travel, delivery, acceptance and key checkpoints. The Engagement Executive partners with the HDI data architects, who project manage the day to day activities of the account technology team, including data architects, business intelligence developers, outcome analysts and support resources. He or she also works with the HDI clinical team to bring in the appropriate HDI clinical experts for key meetings and checkpoints.


  • The Engagement Executive spends a significant amount of time helping the client progress through a series of change management, quality improvement and organizational design processes. These processes are needed to successfully utilize the Electronic Data Warehouse technology to improve care. They include

    • Helping the client form a C-level sponsorship team to prioritize and fund key health care improvement initiatives.


    • Helping the client staff and form permanent cross-functional clinical and administrative working teams to identify, measure, track, implement and improve key care process models based on data-based feedback and evidence-based care.


    • Teaching the client cross-functional teams how to become self-sufficient to enable sustained care improvement, reduce costs and scale across many health system programs.


    The ideal candidate has experience in the following three or four major areas:

  • Proven executive account management experience, ideally in a healthcare related industry. Can successfully interact, persuade, motivate and handle objections at an executive level. Can build relationships at every level and show success at achieving high client satisfaction.


  • Nurse or clinical experience in order to facilitate change management toward clinical best practices.


  • Demonstrated program management experience, including a strong attention to detail. Specific experience in process improvement design and implementation is particularly helpful in order to help guide clients through the project in an efficient and effective manner.


  • Technical experience, or at least a familiarity with key data warehouse concepts, is also helpful.


  • These areas of experience require strong executive and relationship building skills, clinical and technical familiarity and program management skills to work through complex development and implementation decisions. The candidate is also required to have excellent communication, interpersonal, technical and organizational skills to help guide change management best-practices, remove obstacles, enhance collaboration and support team deliver results.
