Malcolm Pirnie, the Water Division of ARCADIS, is currently searching for a Junior Level Engineer for Water/Wastewater and/or Oil and Gas Industry projects in our Chattanooga, TN location.
This is a position that will, under the direction of a senior engineer or engineering manager, provide technical and design consulting services to support projects for the water/wastewater and oil and gas product transportation. Projects may include work on pumping stations, wastewater collection systems, water distribution, storm water systems, and water/wastewater treatment plants, hydraulic evaluation and design as well as provide technical and design consulting services to support projects for oil and gas product transportation; including detailed design of pipeline, meter station design, typical ongoing civil and electrical maintenance terminal engineering projects, developing petroleum design reports, construction documents, cost estimating, and specifications, as well as construction oversight, vendor/supplier coordination efforts, and administration. Work will focus on conceptual design options, analysis, detailed designs, developing construction documents and specifications for construction, construction administration, and project closeout.
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Coordination of multi-disciplined projects.
Development of engineer's opinions of probable construction costs in conformance with standards.
Perform facility sizing calculations, develop conceptual site layouts and conceptual cost opinions.
Conduct site visits, condition assessments and performance evaluations of multi-disciplined projects.
Candidate will produce the engineering required for projects including; terminal upgrades, preventative maintenance, regulatory compliance. Facilities may include light products terminals, liquid petroleum gas storage facilities.
Creation of PFD - P&ID's for facilities or processes.
Experience with client and sub-contractor interface during project life cycle.
Write technical reports and assist with plans and specifications production for engineering projects.
Interface and coordinate with clients.
Other duties as assigned.
Must have solid written and verbal communication skills.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum years of experience: 3 + years of engineering experience
Education required: Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or related field of study from an Accredited University
Registrations/Certifications required: EIT or sitting for FE exam within 1 year from hire date
Skills required: Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD and / or Bentley Microstation. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook). Developing experience with project / team leadership and Client relationship skills, including preparation and development of construction documents. Ability to work on multiple, unique assignments simultaneously is required with strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills. Self-motivated, team-oriented and flexible individual must possess the initiative and ability to tackle new projects, challenges, and concepts. Exercise proper judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
Preferred Qualifications:
Years experience preferred: 5 years of experience in Engineering Consulting
Education preferred: Master's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
Registrations/Certifications preferred: Current Licensed EIT, working to achieve PE in the coming year.
Skills preferred: Proficiencies in MS Office applications (including MS Project), AutoCAD or Microstation 3D design or MEP. This is a design focused position, but prior field construction experience is a plus. Experience in Water / Wastewater Consulting Engineering and/or downstream oil and gas facilities design and construction projects is a plus.
This position does require travel. Travel amount is up to 25%.
A valid driver's license and clean driving record is required for this position.
This position does not manage others.
