Position location in Irvine or San Jose CA. The Failure Analysis Engineer supports new product development and customer satisfaction by determining the cause of Hard Disk Drive and Solid State Drive failures. The successful FA Engineer uses their knowledge of drives along with software and hardware tools to determine the cause of the failure. A strong desire to learn new technology and sleuth mysteries is needed. As a new graduate you would be apprenticed to an experienced FA engineer for training and immersed in the drive FA process. As your knowledge and skill develops you will transition to solo analysis on increasingly complex failures. Occasional travel overseas is likely.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analyze drive failures to a provide path to determine root cause.
Work with functional teams, as needed to understand drive issues.
Self-starter who can quickly learn disk drive technology and FA techniques.
Articulate their conclusions to the team and advocate for appropriate action.
Develop new diagnostic tools or tests and more efficient FA techniques.
Good hands on working knowledge of digital and analog circuits.
Good hands on experience with oscilloscopes, power supplies and other electronic test equipment.
Comfortable in a fast paced technology driven environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, works well as a team member.
Active desire to learn new technology and skills.
ASIC/SOC hardware and firmware experience.
Embedded, Database, Web programming experience.
LeCroy DSO experience.
Building and debugging electronic projects as a hobby.
BSEE preferred, related degree with electronics hardware experience considered.
